Obama Rally

Photogeek Alert! These were taken with the Canon 50D & a 300 f/4, standing on my tippy toes with the camera over my head. I shot dozens of frames to practice, chimping along the way. Now I'm ready to try and get a one decent image of Barack Obama, all the way across the Statehouse lawn. So where is he anyway? Well, maybe I'll try and figure out how that Liveview thing works since we have some down time.
After a while your arms do get tired and either you have a decent shot or not of the person at the podium. So your attention begins to wander, hoping to get some more of the flavor of the surroundings. Hmmm, I wonder if this guy is listening to the Browns game? Or maybe the latest from Pink on his iPod?
Great shot of where I was compared to the podium. The 2 white dots in the green tree are those camera lights. By now I have made it up to being only four people deep. Still shooting overhead though.
There are actually 2 fences. The one you see is actually the second one in, and security walks the buffer. This is one of those creepy weird shots. Why? Because I don't remember seeing this or shooting it. With 50D on high fps mode and being constantly jostled, I think I had my finger on the shutter and just shot it. And yes, that is a reflection of the guys on the roof across the street. On the Statehouse itself possibly.
And I wonder what General Sherman thinks of all of this, almost 125 years after his March to the Sea.
Sherman was actually from Lancaster OH, about 45 minutes from downtown Columbus. Interesting story, his is. Especially about him being a Civil War commander. Or how the hell he ever got to be one. But I digress.
